![]() ![]() My greatest disappointment with RE3R is that they failed to take a mediocre game with a good concept and elevate it into something truly great. For me it was entirely skippable, despite good ideas, Nemesis, and Jill. Live selection added minimum variety (it allowed you to discover an additional corridor with some items and that’s it), as did the random spawns each playthrough, increasing the replayability only a bit. Nemesis was scripted as well, though admittedly he did appear more often. NEST 2 replaces the Dead Factory, which was essentially a lab anyway. I was always lukewarm towards it, being so action focused and padding out the run time by forcing you to backtrack through multiple long alleys in the first half of the game, and then the out of place Clock Tower section (which took 20-30 minutes to finish tops), pointless park, and awful Grave Digger fight. I’m actually shocked that people are defending RE3: Nemesis so much. It had exploding barrels to kill groups of zombies for crying out loud. The original was already very action oriented, especially for a fixed camera game. Some people complain about RE3R being more action oriented. She’s also nice towards Brad and Kendo, people she knows and trusts. There is actual chemistry there, unlike in RE3: Nemesis. She does eventually warm up to Carlos, stops being snarky/sassy towards him, and seems to start liking him as a person. At first I thought they ruined her character, but then I remembered that in the original she did slap Carlos at one point and was pretty hostile, though had a lot less dialogue to work with and didn’t swear. She’s rude and snarky, but on the other hand, she every right to be, considering she mostly interacts with UBCS. Jill is a bit too potty mouthed for my taste. Brad dying a heroic death, instead of being killed by Nemesis, as if to make up for leaving Alpha Team to fend for themselves at the Spencer Mansion. Storywise it's more focused, especially character development. ![]() Chaos of the city being destroyed by the zombies is great, especially in the beginning. In RE3 remake they took a ton of liberty and redesigned the entire thing completely for better or for worse." Both RE2 remake and RE4 remake are a lot closer to the source material. ![]() People expect a remake to have more familiar locations and story of the original. It's vastly different than the original in almost every way. "Because it's basically a completely new game. It's pointless listing all of them, but one of the posters on the Steam forums summarized it perfectly: I think the largest complaint among fans are the differences between the original RE3: Nemesis and Remake. ![]()
